Despite their pure motivation and completely lawful actions, watchmen are mocked and regularly ordered to leave by BOAs. What drives Anita and Elise? How do they hold their ground?

“Abortion is truly not a well-considered decision for all women. We see many women who are uncertain. Sometimes, just a listening ear is enough for them to choose their baby after all. You don’t hear about that in the media,” say pro-life advocates Anita and Elise.

The SGP also finds it important to express support for watchmen who engage in careful and loving conversations with women during an extremely vulnerable period of their lives.

Stoffer: “Never before has the number of abortions risen so sharply, and never before has unborn life enjoyed so little protection. And this while the cabinet had indicated it wanted to make efforts to reduce the number of abortions. In a respectful manner, we therefore want to draw attention to early and emerging life. It is the greatest injustice of our time. I continue to emphasize: abortion involves two lives: that of the mother, but also that of the child. The SGP wants us to be mindful of both lives. The unborn also counts and also has the right to life,” says the SGP party leader.

Number of abortions increased by 15 percent

A few weeks ago, figures showed that the number of abortions in the Netherlands has increased by as much as 15 percent in the past year. In addition, the protection of unborn life has been significantly eroded in the past cabinet period: the consideration period has been abolished and the abortion pill is available through the general practitioner.
