Bert-Jan Ruissen, Member of the European Parliament for the SGP, has submitted written questions to the European Commission regarding the European Citizens' Initiative 'My Voice, My Choice'. The organization behind this citizens' initiative is asking the EU to facilitate abortion tourism with financial support for member states where abortions are performed. Ruissen points out the problematic nature of this: "This initiative is particularly objectionable because according to European legislation, it should not have been allowed to start. Abortion is not an EU competence. I therefore want to know why the European Commission has allowed this."
